Skye is a dyslexic, London-based artist whose practice explores water and perspectival concepts influenced by the dyslexic gaze. His work has developed over several years into a distinctive visual language grounded in the act of ‘zeroing in’ on still images of turbulent water and abstracting the shapes and structures within.
Through investigations of refraction, reflection and diffraction, Skye draws connections between these visual phenomena and the visuospatial strengths often associated with dyslexia, such as holistic (big picture) thinking, spatial reasoning, reversals, and pattern recognition. From this lived experience of being a dyslexic artist he finds parallels with strong emotion (pathos), otherness, and transcendence, often invoking principles of the Sublime. Skye’s work has been exhibited and sold in London, across the UK, and internationally. He holds both a BA, MA and a PhD in Art, where he continues to develop and interrogate the conceptual and perceptual foundations of his praxis.
